With the assistance of Girl Scout Troop 952, Alison spearheaded a Girl Scout cookie drive that resulted in over 550 boxes of cookies being sent to soldiers being treated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and soldiers serving in Iraq.
Since 2005, collaborating with major airlines, schools, Allen County 4-H, restaurants, family members, friends and others, Alison has collected over 5,027 letters of support for our troops, some of which have been reproduced 100 times and distributed to soldiers at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, soldiers serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, and soldiers serving stateside. This project is ongoing.
Since 2006, Alison has gathered and shipped over 55,117 toiletries, and other needed items to U.S. soldiers. This project is ongoing.
Since Veteran's Day 2007, Alison has collected and shipped over 12,258 pairs of warm socks to soldiers serving in the cold, mountainous regions of Afghanistan and some areas of Iraq. Support for this project has come, and continues to come, from all over the United States. This project is ongoing.
With the assistance of churches, Korean War Veterans’ Association, and local elementary and middle schools, approximately 1,000 handmade Valentine’s Day cards and letters have been made for the troops.
Three garage sales have netted approximately $6,700 to support our troops. Items for the sales were generously donated by the public.
My Menu, in conjunction with Operation U.S. Troop Support, Inc., hosted two cookouts to benefit the troops.
Omni Source and SDI are recycling aluminum cans to benefit Operation U.S. Troop Support, Inc.
Collaborating with the Fort Wayne Museum of Art and local artists, Alison Mansfield created a coloring book for soldiers to give to the Afghan and Iraqi children as gestures of goodwill. Elk Grove Graphics generously donated all printing services for 1,000 coloring books and Red Robin Restaurants donated crayons for the project.
